About us
The Medieval Torture Museum is the largest interactive museum in the United States dedicated to the history of torture and punishment. Spanning more than 6,000 square feet in each location, our exhibitions feature over a hundred meticulously reconstructed devices of torment. Today, the museum has three branches: Chicago (Illinois), Los Angeles (California), and St. Augustine (Florida).
Every exhibit is created from authentic manuscripts, engravings, and original sources of the Middle Ages. Guided by the principle that “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it...” we seek to leave visitors not only fascinated but also deeply aware of the darker chapters of human history.

OpenThe Medieval Torture Museum exists not only to terrify and amaze but also to educate and preserve historical memory. A visit is more than a walk through horrifying chambers - it is a confrontation with the cruelty that shaped the past. By reliving these shadows of history, visitors leave with a chilling experience, but also with a deeper understanding of the injustices that once ruled human life.
We strive to ensure that every guest walks away both shaken and enlightened - haunted by the echoes of the past, yet reminded of the progress that defines the present.
